The Mission Cabernet Merlot 2010
This last week was really crazy at my house. My wife is one of the directors for the annual musical at her school and I was getting blown up at work. Well…not literally blown up, but you could probably infer that since I am posting this article. Unless, of course, a “me” from an alternate universe was sent here to stop “current me” from being blown up for real. In the process, “me” was the target all along by “them” and it was their cleaver ploy to get “current me” into a spot of danger so “me” would be vulnerable. At the end of the day, I’m pretty sure that is exactly why “current me” is typing on a keyboard. So, uh….lets talk about The Mission Cabernet Merlot!
Name: The Mission Cabernet Merlot

Varietals: 50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon

(Price can vary on state, taxes, the store’s mark-up, and if this song went through your head while you were reading the opening. That theme song still creeps me out to this day…)
First off, this is a sort-of Cab from California, so +Lane Greer, you can stop reading now.
I poured a taste and started testing the aromas. I could pick up some black fruits, but I couldn’t pick out the aroma for sure. It might have been blackberry and/or plum. There was a light hint of oak on the nose as well.
As for its taste….it is very interesting. Lightly acidic and moderately spicy with a medium finish. The plum(?) was present but had a hard time picking out other flavors in the wine. It was a little sharper and not as well-rounded as I would expect from a blend.
This wasn’t a great wine but I have had much worse. I was trying to think of something to pair this with and gave up. You could use it for a general purpose wine if you’re not sure which red wine will pair with something. See you on Wednesday!
